From registration you have 10 weeks to learn the 10 techniques together with TAO.
In this block seminar, TAO introduces you to 10 painting techniques.
Each of the 10 techniques is extensively experimentally circled within one week.
The following techniques are presented:
- modulation
- expressive color setting
- impressive color setting
- techniques of realism
- complementary color refraction
- grisaille
- made surface (“Faktur”)
- layer painting
- sgraffito
- tempera painting
- gestural painting
TAO introduces these techniques to you from week to week and discusses the possibilities of using them independently.
Every week we practice every single technique through our daily exchange in the blog and are amazed at the variety of possibilities to come up with fascinating technical ideas almost playfully. Please note that the list of seminar topics does not correspond to the chronological order. The individual topics are not fixed in terms of dates.
It is a practical seminar in the "home office" in which there is a lot of painting and technical experimentation. The goal is a variety of new modes of action and the development of individual ways of dealing with technical requirements.
Every single technique of painting means an expansion of the creativity base. Each technique enables a different expression, releases a different effect.
With TAO, you can go beyond just boring, monochromatic painting on the painting surface! The versatility of the craft reflects the versatility of the artistic activity. You will experience that while painting, with the experience of the techniques in the background, completely new and different ideas will come to you.
This event enables you to get to know the offered techniques for the first time. It helps you to put your free work on a new basis. TAO will show you relevant examples from art history, which will help to underpin the technical mediation in pictorial form.
You will be guided professionally while you work. Again and again it is checked whether you are on the right path and you receive informative tips for successful results. In addition, you will be trained in developing your own handwriting and sensitized to effective work. The online seminar thus proves to be an intensive sensory training. The feeling for color is significantly sensitized, seeing and judging becomes more differentiated, more alive. Above all, it is fun to get to know and try out new possibilities in painting.
During and after your practical experiment, there will be an informative discussion of the intermediate results. As a result, individual experiences are exchanged with each other and knowledge is consolidated. Along the way, you will learn a lot about the laws of color and learn to consciously observe and use the behavior of color.
Interesting wisdom and experiences from well-known artists of art history, but also from important art theorists, are repeatedly woven into the blog posts. As a result, technical work is charged with sensuality and spirit, and each participant gains a lasting impression of professional artistic work, for which important building blocks are laid through this event.

So use the time and try to perfect the corresponding technique individually within the respective week! The time specification 10 weeks is a guideline. You can arrange your working hours very flexibly.
